A former Ashanti Regional Vice Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Mohammed Shani, says he is distraught over the humiliating defeat of the party at the December 7 polls.
He indicates that what was handed the party at the polls is humiliating and not worth discussing and therefore would have wished the matter is not discussed on radio as currently been done.
“What was witnessed at the polls is not a mere defeat but a serious humiliation to the party Kwame”, he stated on Abusua Nkomo hosted by Kwame Adinkra.
Alhaji Shani said the party had been projected to win but it was not possible at the close of polls outlining a number of issues that worked against its projected victory including his being sidelined from the campaigns despite his wealth of experience.
According to him, he is yet to get out of the shock of the humiliation after the party has been soundly beaten with an over 1 million vote margin and lost a net of 52 seats in parliament.
“No consultation was done with my involvement and Joseph Yamin despite our experience in politics. Some persons were holier than the Pope and I think it is not time to apportion blames. We need introspection before we can take further action. What I will rather advise is for us to become more united and work towards a future victory .We graciously accept what has come our way “, he said.
The former regional executive expressed worry he and others were sidelined in the run up to the elections disclosing that they still contributed their quota towards the party’s election but were not recognized.
“As I said, we need to stop the blame game and forge ahead in unity. If we fail to unite the consequences in the future will be more disastrous”, he advised.
