NDC’s Arabic language idea has sparked controversy as the opposition NPP claims the incumbent party copied it from them

NDC’s Arabic language idea was revealed by the Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, during an interaction with the Muslim Community at Nsawam Zongo, as part of his campaign tour of the Eastern Region. But Spokesperson for the Flagbearer of the NPP, Mustapha Hamid has said that the incumbent party stole its idea on the Arabic language issue.
He wonders how the NDC came up with the idea, since it was not their original idea but that of the NPP. Speaking on Citi news, he bemoaned the NDC’s shameful habit of always copying everything the NPP says or puts in its manifesto. He pointed out that the NDC only rushed to make add it to their agenda and have not though about the dynamics involved.

Hamid also envisaged the party’ failure in kicking off the programme in year 2017. Analysing the supposed sequence f events, Hamid said that for the programme to be actualized, there is the need to train and recruit teachers who will put students through on the language. He however, doubted the NDC’s ability to pull the plan off, since it was not their original idea.
Furthermore, stakeholders on the educational sector have also raised eyebrows as to why government chose to introduce Arabic language in schools, when there are other languages such as Chinese and French that they can make examinable. But Hamid says there is nothing wrong in introducing the subject, as Arabic language is very common in Ghana.
