A deputy National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) will still lose the 2016 polls if First Lady Lordina Mahama is made the EC chairperson.
According to Maame Afia Akoto, though the Northern and Volta Regions are said to be strongholds of the NDC, the love shown to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo during his tour of those regions indicates the NPP has won their hearts.
“NDC will still lose the 2016 elections even if our First Lady Lordina Mahama is elected as the EC chair. We the NPP can’t be swayed away from our change agenda ahead of the December polls. The Northern and Volta Regions, said to be strongholds of the NDC this time around has shown so much love to the NPP. And that means the change is coming. We are winning massively” she declared.
Maame Afia Akoto was speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Friday.
Reminding President of Mahama of his own words in 2008, when he rubbished the then government’s claim of massive infrastructure development as an “exercise in mediocrity”, the NPP communicator wondered why the same person would tout the same things as achievements that should be used as a yardstick to retain him in power.
“President Mahama said President Kufuor’s claim of building infrastructure was an exercise in mediocrity, because every government is expected to build roads, schools and other things. So with that if they (NDC) say they deserve a clap for infrastructure developments then it means we are even mocking them because his (President Mahama) own words prove him wrong” she stressed.
She called on all party faithful to come out in their numbers to vote on Election Day unlike the NDC, who she claims are complacent and believe falsely that they have already won the December polls.
“We will enter every hole and hut to beg for votes because we are not in power, unlike the ungrateful NDC that has forgotten the very people that gave them the power. The Zongos in the Eastern Region have decided enough is enough because they said the NDC always abandon them when they get into power. Besides they’ve left the country in so much debt” she noted.
The Deputy National Communications Director was however grateful to Ghanaians for the love shown Nana Akuffo Addo and his vice, Mahamudu Bawumia during the NPP’s campaign tour across the country, and urged them to translate the love into votes.
