The Campaign Coordinator of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, has debunked claims that the umbrella family is behind a publication in the Africa Watch Magazine suggesting that the 2016 presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has cancer.
Adams speaking in an interacting with Accra-based Adom FM on Monday said the NDC has never thought or factor it in their plans to attack Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo on health grounds, believing that the health of individuals lies in the hands of the Almighty God.
“We will not go on the same tangent as the NPP did to the late Prof. Atta Mills. We will never do that because we know that the health of any individual lies in the hands of God. But if it is true that Akufo-Addo is not well, we as NDC always go on our knees to pray for country that anyone who is sick, He the good Lord should heal them. So, if Nana Addo is sick, we will pray for him and so they [NPP] should not come and overburden us with that cancer issue”, he noted.
The Africa Watch Magazine in one of its recent publications said the NPP’s campaign hangs in a balance after its flagbearer was diagnosed of cancer.
Ever since the publication, speculations are rife that the said edition of the monthly magazine was sponsored by the NDC.
However, Kofi Adams, who is also the National Organizer of the Akatamansonians, said such claims are false.
“We have not hired Africa Watch Magazine to do such a story. Besides we don’t run a hospital to diagnose Akufo-Addo of cancer. And even if we run a hospital, Nana Addo has not come to us so how can we go and hire a magazine to do such a story”, he posited.
He added “the problem I have with the NPP is that sometimes the kind of things that they do if it goes to an angle that is not pleasant to them, they turn around to blame somebody.
In the year 2000, they found it convenient to campaign against the giant who is also gentle. And today, if somebody uses the same language to campaign against the gentle giant, then they become very angry”.
