The Acting General Secretary for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay has rubbished the allegation by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the Invincible Forces are attacking and seizing state property unlawfully.
The National Chairman of the NDC, Kofi Porturphy at a press conference held on Thursday accused Nana Addo of being dishonest, financing and supporting the Invincible Forces to attack them.
He also called on civil society, clergy and others to intervene and not blame the NDC should there be reprisal attacks.
“The beastly conduct of Nana Akufo-Addo’s Invisible Forces will no longer be countenanced. We are calling on civil societies, religious bodies the media and international community not to blame the NDC if the unacceptable conduct of Akufo-Addo invisible forces leads to reprisal attacks,” he said.
However, Mr. Blay says the allegation is a figment of the NDC’s own imagination.
‘’That is what the NDC has come out with. They only suspect that the attacks are being perpetuated by the Invincible Forces. If I am speaking for the party NPP, I will say that the Invincible Forces have not done anything of the sort. It is a figment of their own imagination. They have come out to catalog all these allegations and made up stories. It is not true. Most of them are untrue. A few of them in some instances could be the case…
Speaking to Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he stressed that NPP members have not taken over public offices adding, ‘’it doesn’t make sense for anybody to say that NPP members have gone to public places and asked the workers to home because they are in government. It is not true.’’
Freddie Blay also indicated that the call on Nana Akufo-Addo to speak against the ‘’non-existent’’ attacks on state institutions is irrelevant.
He further slammed the previous NDC administration accusing them looting and sharing at some institution including the ports, toll booths and that is what some of our members are trying to protect.
‘’These are the places that I believe some members have gone to insist that things be done appropriately with the consent of custom officers there. They prevented cars from being smuggled out of the port and I don’t think there is a problem with that,’’ he stated.
On the toll booth, he said although there is a change of government and supporters of the NPP are taking over, he will not support that but blamed the NDC for doing same when they took over from the NPP in 2008.
Mr. Blay further lambasted the NDC for warning of reprisals. He said, ‘’the NDC is threatening of reprisal attacks. Reprisals in respect of what?
‘’It is out of frustration of having lost badly that they are coming out to threaten that they will be reprisal attacks. We are not at war so the NDC should stop creating fear and panic.’’
