A member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Madam Lucy Ennin has described the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a party which implements policies which goes against the dreams and vision of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
The first woman Parliamentarian in Ghana speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Programme on Wednesday said the party despite claiming to be a social democratic party rather implements pro-capitalist policies and ideas.
“I heard Asiedu Nketia claiming at their manifesto launch in Sunyani that they are a socialist party but which party implemented the structural adjustment programme that saw the priivitisation of several State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) built by Nkrumah…?” she quizzed.
The NDC scribe addressing party supporters at the party’s manifesto launch mocked the NPP for doing away with their capitalist idealogy and implementing socialist-inclined ones.
The reason, Asiedu Nketia said is as a result of the fact that the NPP has seen socialism as more appealing than capitalism to the masses.
Lucy Ennin responding to this said the argument was false as the NDC had rather been implementing capitalist policies.
And this, she said included the sale of national assets.
“Our gold refinery was about 90% completion but still the NDC couldn’t complete it and today, we have to refine gold at South Africa,” she said.
She further entreated the NDC to stop claiming they are Nkrumahists.
