Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea says the Mahama-led administration is a government of “lies, for lies and by lies”.
In his view, a party that practices lies and propaganda as a governance tool is not worthy of a second term in power.
Nana Akomea made the comment on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday while reacting to claims that it vice presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has lost his credibility after he failed to provide further and better particulars to back his claim that 76,268 Togolese are on the voters register.
A communications team member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kakra Essumuah who was a panellist on the same show said, the former deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana has lost credibility after failing to back his claim with hardcore evidence.
He indicated that, the allegation of Dr. Bawumia is in line with the NPP’s plan to disenfranchise people in the Volta region ahead of the December 7 polls.
As a damage control, Kakra Essumuah called on the NPP’s running mate to render an unqualified apology to Voltarains for the gaffe.
But in a quick rebuttal, Nana Akomea called the bluff of the NDC man for his “divisive and ethnocentric comments”.
He said, all Dr. Bawumia sought to do was to set the records straight for a credible electoral roll and not to disenfranchise any group of people.
The NPP Director of Communications could not fathom why the ruling party use tribal politics during electioneering campaigns.
He was however happy since “Ghanaians are not going to be swayed by tribalism and ethnocentric politics of the NDC.
Rather, Nana Akomea said the citizenry are concerned about the worsening social economic conditions they have been plunged in by the incompetent Mahama government.
On the credibility of Dr. Bawumia, he said “no one in the NDC including President Mahama comes close”.
Nana Akomea urged the NDC to quit the ethnocentric politics and concentrate on improving the lives of Ghanaians.
