The ruling NDC has created a taskforce in the Eastern region in order to ensure that its ambition of splitting the votes, equally, with the NPP in the upcoming elections is realised.
The 15-member taskforce headed by the regional minister Mavis Ama Frimpong is solely to ensure that the party’s campaign in the region is geared towards ensuring the vote-split agenda. Other members of the team include District Chief Executives and other key party executives in the Eastern region.
The party says it is convinced obtaining half of the votes in the Eastern region will make it easier to retain the presidency and also further weaken the strength of the opposition, in an area they deem a stronghold.
Ghana goes to the polls on December 7, to elect a president and parliamentarians. President John Mahama of the NDC and the NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo are the frontrunners.
