Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are now fleeing from the party’s ward and regional offices because the party is now financially and unable to meet the financial demands of its footsoldiers.
Greater Accra regional organizer of the party, Anthony Nukpenu who revealed this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Programme Wednesday said the NDC is now in need of money to inject to revive the party.
“The NDC is not broke but financially down…we are not broke, we have money but financially down…,” he said as a response to a question of whether the party is broke and hence the troubles erupting from the grassroot.
The upheavals within the NDC reared its ugly heads once more after the Member of Parliament (MP) for Yunyoo, Joseph Naabu Bipoba claimed that the former President, John Mahama was still ‘incompetent’ to lead the NDC.
“He was the president and contest with Nana Akufo-Addo and lost miserably so if President Mahama comes, what is he going to do? Is he the only person?,” he quizzed.
These comments, Anthony Nukpenu said was very unfortunate from the MP who he said only spoke like a ‘running water’.
To Nukpenu, the day is too young to talk about who would lead the NDC into the next elections.
He further said that he would rather suggest to the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the party to force anyone who seeks to lead the NDC in future to start paying dues of GHC2,000.
Half of this amount, he said would be used for the running of the party which has been forced to close down its regional offices because of numerous complaints from foot soldiers.
The party executives who can cope with the high number of lamentations from the party footsoldiers have now been forced to abscond from the offices leaving it closed all the time.
“Why don’t you rather go and check why the regional offices are not opening…the number of cries that would come to them would force them waste even the 10,000 on people who are crying…,” he said.
He said he was not someone the footsoldiers do not want to cry to him because they know him to be snobbish.
“As for me, if you cry and I get angry, I will tell you my mind because there is a dead body already here and you are crying to that direction too…,” he said. Source:
