The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reminded members to be guarded against internal wrangling to ensure that the party moved ahead with a united front.
The party said the unnecessary trading of insults, accusations and counter accusations, as well as vilification of some former government appointees by party members would not augur well for it, especially now that it was in opposition.
At a news conference in Sunyani, Mr Opoku Atuahene, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Chairman of the NDC, said it would be difficult for the party to regain power if members continued on that tangent.
Flanked by other regional executives of the party, Mr Atuahene said: “We are baffled at the manner at which some party members are vilifying our own, especially Dr Stephen Opuni, the former Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD and several others”.
He said the party recognised the immense contributions of Dr Opuni, especially in the 2016 electioneering, and advised members to rally behind him and his family.
Mr Atuahene said Dr Opuni was known for his incomparable and selfless track record for the NDC and Ghana as a whole and urged members not to forget about his contribution.
He expressed discomfort about the recent security lapses in the country and called on the Government to act impartially in addressing those concerns.
“The people of Ghana are presently living in fear due to the emergence of shadow security groups such as the Delta and Invincible Forces,” Mr Atuahene said.
