Moves by members of the opposition in parliament to impeach President Mahama over the Ford Expedition saga is a decoy being staged by a bigwig of the ruling National Democratic Congress a group with sympathy for the party has alleged.
The group led by Abdul Rashid Musah, is alleging that they have gathered reliable information that the said staunch figure in the party is looking for an opportunity to lead the NDC and is doing all he can to support the opposition MPs in the impeachment process.
The convener for Victory for Mahama added that for this reason, the unmanned NDC big whip has held several meetings with NPP MPs to strategize on the impeachment process.
Abdul Rashid Musah added that the discussions were centered on the fear that the President Mahama might lose the upcoming election.
President Mahama has been drawing heavy fire since news reports named him as having received a dubious car gift from a Burkinabe Contractor.
The contractor, Djibril Kanazoe, is on record as having confirmed giving out the car as gift to Mr. Mahama, for which the President called to thank him.
Media reports have quoted Mr. Kanazoe as saying the gift was a purely friendly gesture and not a dubious token aimed at influencing the Mahama administration to reciprocate by giving him government contracts.
