National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist Godwin Ako Gunn has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the flag bearer of the party Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to make available CCTV footages to the Police in order to help unravel truth behind the incident that took place on Sunday.
According to Ako Gunn, the suggestion by the NPP that he was the one who led the NDC ‘gangs’ to attack Nana Addo’s house was not only false but a malicious intention to damage his reputation.
“Asempa, I was not part of the organizers and I was not even part of the organizing committee of the health walk so I am surprised why my name should be drawn into this, if it is not attempt to maligned me unjustly, just because I was there” he told the Onua Fm morning show host Bright Kwesi Asempa.
The opposition New Patriotic Party has accused Godwin Ako Gunn, one of the radio panelists who are now known as ‘Muntie 3’, of leading the attack on the residence of their flag bearer, Nana Akufo Addo on Sunday when the NDC led by the President John Dramani Mahama embarked on a health walk.
Violence according to reports broke at the Nima residence flag bearer on Sunday morning for reasons which still remained vague. But NPP in a statement signed by the Acting General Secretary John Boadu maintained that, the incident is part of series of activities planned by the governing National Democratic Congress “to bait the NPP into responding in similar fashion
But Ako Gunn insisted that he did nothing wrong, adding that the party will do Ghanaians and the Police good if they could make footages from the CCTV cameras in and around the residence of the flag bearer available. “NDC will be vindicated if the party and Nana Addo make the footages available. The house has CCTV cameras all around, if it is the NDC that started the violence or the NPP, everybody will see, how can I lead over Three hundred thousand people to attack one individual, does that make sense” he queried.
He also observed that it will be impossible for that huge number of people to have thrown stones and bottles into Nana’s house as being alleged only for two stones and a broken bottle retrieved. Maintaining that, Ghanaians should not take the NPP and its flag bearer serious if they fail to produce the CCTV footage.
Meanwhile, The Acting General Secretary of the NPP John Boadu has told Onua Fm that the party will not hesitate to produce the footage should the Police make a request.
