The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will remain a survey president, National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, Kofi Adams has said.
He said polls projecting a win for Nana Akufo-Addo who is making his third attempt at the presidency, are a mere strategy employed by the NPP to undermine the performance of President John Mahama of the NDC.
Findings of a latest research conducted by the University of Ghana’s Political Science Department said the NPP would record 69.9 per cent in the 2016 presidential general election if the general elections were to be held now.
The researchers projected 39.9 per cent for the National Democratic Congress five per cent for the Progressive People’s Party and 1.7 for both the Convention People’s Party and the National Democratic Party.
Another research by Groupe Nduom Research also tipped the NPP to win the elections because 51 per cent of Ghanaians are confident Nana Akufo-Addo is the best candidate to address unemployment, health and educational issues in the country when voted as president.
But reacting to the findings of the three-month research which focused on twenty-four swing constituencies in seven out of the ten regions, Mr Adams rejected the findings of the two polls as well as that of the Economist Intelligence Unit all of which projected a win for the NPP.
“Nana will only remain a survey President in Ghana,” he told Bright Asempa, host of Accra-based Onua FM’s morning show, Yen Sempa Thursday.
“Those polls are strategies adopted by the NPP in this year’s election to undermine the performance of the President but Ghanaians have made up their minds. Asempa, they did the same thing in 2008 and 20012 as alleged by Ben Ephson yet we beat them,” he said.
According to Mr Adams, the polls are much ado about nothing, and suggested that some institutions have shun credibility and allowed themselves to be used. “Believe me the elections will vindicate the NDC,” he said, and argued polls are not credible and must be rejected by Ghanaians.
“We have a company that predicted first round for President John Mahama but we are not all over the media using it as propaganda.
EIU do they know Pusiga, Lambusie, Garu, Timpane, Sisala and the rest,” Kofi Adams asked.
