In a move many have called very humane, president-elect Nana Akufo-Addo has taken it upon himself to personally visit the victims of the labadi explosion and ensure their wellbeing.
Nana Addo went with his vice, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to the hospital where most of the victims were admitted. The labadi explosion happened between the Labadi cemetery and trade fair centre.

After the explosion which was caused by …. 10 people were recorded dead with over 40 others injured. With the various degrees of injuries, most of the survivors were admitted at the Korle Bu and 37 military
The Fire Service’s preliminary investigations showed that the explosion may have been caused by a gas leak which was most likely caused by carelessness.
During the visit, Nana Akufo-Addo called for strict adherence to safety regulations in the wake of the gas explosion. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Ghana National Fire Service have since shut down the Louis gas station at Labadi which was the main scene of the gas explosion.
As if to attest to all of his good works so far, former presiding bishop of the Methodist church Reverend Samuel Asante Antwi has said that President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo is the best man to have led Ghana even in the last eight years,
In his Christmas day sermon in Accra, Revd. Samuel said Nana Addo took a long time preparing himself for the job and really deserved an opportunity to put all his training to work.
He made it clear that God has been kind to the country and its citizens and that was why he allowed the defeat of the NDC during the elections.

“So far as I am concerned, he (Nana Addo) is the best. He is the best in so many years. So far as I am concerned he is the best for the past eight years and it is so in the name of Jesus Christ.
“God has removed a huge burden from Ghana. He has brought us peace, perfect peace,” he said.
President John Mahama will hand over to the NPP administration led by the former attorney general on January 7, 2017.
Nana Addo who contested the presidency for the third time defeated Mr. Mahama by over million votes.
