Member of Parliament for Juaboso, Kwabena Minta Akando has described as “April Fool Prank” President Akufo Addo’s promise to deal ruthlessly with some members of private security wing of the New Patriotic Party, Delta Force who misbehaved in the region recently.
The President Akufo-Addo in his visit to the Ashanti region assured the Asantehene that he will ensure that sanity prevails and the rule of law takes its course in the region.
The President said he was aware that the Asantehene is unhappy with disturbances caused by the NPP vigilante group, DELTA FORCE in the region and promised to resolve it.
He said he would not condone lawlessness under his leadership and reiterated his call to ensure such issues never happen again.
“There are a few things, Delta [Force] and other issues that are unpleasant, but we are working to deal with those issues to ensure peace and understanding in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, and the whole country.
“I will not ignore such issues. The law applies to everyone in Ghana. I know it is of concern to you, but do not worry, we will ensure that everything is resolved” he said.
Reacting to this promise in an interview with Adomonline.com, the lawmaker said the president should first deal with people like the MP for Assin Central, Ken Agyapong and the Ashanti regional chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako who defended the group saying no one can deal with them.
Mr Minta Akando says the president’s only performed an ‘April fool prank’ on the regeent and cannot do anything to the group.
“Don’t forget Nana Addo made this promise today which is April 1st and also Kennnedy Agyapong and Chairman Wontumi has warned that no one can touch them and so why should Nana Addo tell us he will deal with them.
“It is indeed an ‘April fool prank’ and so Ghanaians should not believe Nana Addo,” he said.
