The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential nominee, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in the spirit of Dagbon’s reconciliation and unity on Tuesday historically paid a courtesy call on the Regent of Dagbon, Kampukuya Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani at his palace in Yendi.
He by extension replicated the gesture on the Regent of the Abudu Royals, Boling-Lana Abdulai Mahamadu same at his palace in Yendi. Nana Akufo Addo’s historic visit marked the turning point of his desire to unite the chiefs and people of Dagbon traditional area.
His visit created an opportunity for some royals of the two sides of the chieftaincy divide who have never visited either the Kampukuya Naa or the Boling-Lana’s palaces to change position.
They accompanied Nana Ado’s team to both palaces interspersed with drumming and dancing.
Nana Addo’s message
Nana Akufo Addo dispelled widespread rumours by his political detractors that he sides with the Abudu royals in Dagbon.
According to him, he has no business in meddling with the Dagbon chieftaincy institution and called for absolute reconciliation and unity in the once vibrant Dagbon kingdom.
“I am going to be a father for all in Ghana and I have no business siding with either Abudus or Andanis in Dagbon. My major priority is to develop Ghana for the benefit of all.”
“Have confidence in me to help reconcile the chiefs and people of Dagbon to catch up with the rest of the country,” Nana Addo reechoed. He said national cohesion remained his major priority and that he will continue to galvanize the NPP fraternity for constructive purposes.
He promised to renew the long standing relationship between him and the Regent of Dagbon as the case was with the late Dagbon overlord, Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II.
He vowed never to make campaign promises he can’t fulfil and reignited his one factory per district agenda. He emphasized the need for the chiefs and people of Dagbon to have confidence in him to fix the nation’s ailing economy for which reason they should massively vote for him at the December 7 polls.
Dagbon Regent’s message
The Kampukuya Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani called for clean political campaigns as the nation gears up for the 2016 polls. He condemned the use of intemperate language on the airwaves and called for ceasefire to sustain the nation’s peace and stability before, during and after the elections.
The Dagbon Regent also challenged the youth to consider education as the golden key to unlock their successes in life. He prayed for peaceful elections and urged all the major stakeholders to effectively play their roles.
