The Deputy Ashanti Regional Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kwame Zu lashed out at the presidential nominee of the opposition new Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo describing him as an overly violent and divisive leader.
He claims the NPP is unattractive to the electorate on the basis that Nana Addo is dividing the once formidable party.
Mr. Zu claimed Nana Addo looked on indifferently while members of the party were ousted for disconcerting his position, blaming the latter for internal squabbles in the party.
‘Akufo Addo is extremely arrogant, divisive and overly a violent man who has not contributed in any way to the development of NPP. He has disintegrated, NPP. People are being killed under his watch; he has ousted people who hitherto could have been loyal members to the party. The NPP is a very vibrant party, but the problem they have is the man Akufo-Addo, people are no longer interested in the party,…the man who has been unfortunately elected does not see the need to unite the party,’ he claimed.
Speaking on Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Lantam Papanko, he said Ghanaians will make a grievous mistake by electing Nana Addo to be at the helm of affairs.
‘If you have a man whose home under his auspices is shabbily divided .It only stand to reason that in the unlikely event we make that mistake of ever handing over this nation into the hands of an individual who cannot look at a very handful people, I cannot imagine him solving the many chieftaincy issues we have in this country,’ he said.
He said the NPP is characterized with vices which society frowns on, accusing the NPP of lacking direction, hence the chaos in the party.
‘Under the leadership of Akufo Addo, we are hearing things that our society and culture frown upon, murder of a regional chairman very reprehensible. He was killed in cold blood because there was no direction of a leader, vindictiveness, chaos, anarchy, suspensions, these are the characteristics Mr. Akufo-Addo has exhibited over the period, he does not see the need for cohesion,’ he stated.
Juxtaposing Nana Addo to President John Dramani Mahama, he described the latter as a clear rendition of tolerance and the former as an autocratic leader.
He alleged that most NPP members have not enjoyed peace ever since Nana Addo took the leadership of the party.
