Presidential staffer says the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a ‘very smart man’ following his proposal to build a dam in each village in the three Northern regions.
According to Kojo Adu-Asare, almost every hamlet in the north has a dam which has been covered with weeds thus implementation of the one village, one dam policy will be feasible.
The NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, had promised to establish a dam in every village in the northern part of the country to boost agriculture raising questions of the prudence and feasibility of such an endeavor.
But ruling party and other civil society groups argued that, the policy is not feasible thus should be ignored by Ghanaians.
However, Adu-Asare on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday said, after his tour of some areas in the northern region, he believes the policy is doable.
In his view, dams are being built for the people in the north thus the policy is not a novelty by the NPP leader
“Every village I went to, the dams are there so this is not a novelty by Akufo-Addo” he stressed.
This notwithstanding, Kojo Adu-Asare said there is nothing innovative about the policy for Akufo-Addo to claim credit.
