The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has tasked students and the youth of Ghana to secure their collective future by voting out of office, in December, President John Dramani Mahama.
The NPP flagbearer, who was addressing students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, on Friday, October 21, explained that the choices they opt for on December 7 would either make or break their future.
“People keep telling you that you are the future of our country. I want to say something a bit different. I want to tell you that your future is now. Let me repeat it, your future is now,” Nana Akufo-Addo stated.
This, he stressed, “is because if we, the people of Ghana, including yourselves, allow John Dramani Mahama another four years in power, you will have no future to inherit. That is why I am saying to you that your future is now. To secure your future, we have to make sure that Mahama is defeated on December 7. That is the task I am leaving you.”
Securing their future, Nana Akufo-Addo stated, would be for students and the teeming masses of Ghanaian youth, who are facing a bleak future under President Mahama, to vote for him (Akufo-Addo) and the NPP in this year’s elections.
He, thus, urged them to “get involved in the mobilization of our people to make sure that on the 7th of December, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is elected.”
The NPP flagbearer assured that the direction he is offering the people of Ghana is one which will “concentrate on growing our economy and making sure there are more and more jobs available for the young people of our country. That is the vision which we are working for our country, and it is what we will do when we are in office.”
