Making reference to the role Ghana played in nationalist movements in Africa during the colonial era, Nana Addo said that Ghana is now setting the pace in “Africa’s path to a future of freedom and responsible governance”.
The President prayed for God to give him the ability to lead well in the midst of the country’s diversity – ethnic, religious differences and so on. He promised that he will see to the building of a new Ghana, with a prosperous, fair and just society; where there is an honest government, respect for the rule of law and social justice.
The officiating minister at the thanksgiving service, Reverend Professor Cephas Omenyo, who is the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, called for policies that will bring about changes in the attitudes of Ghanaians. He pointed out that the Nana Addo administration can achieve their goal of transforming the country, only if they take deliberate measures towards making Ghanaians develop the attitudes of responsibility.
