Nana Addo accuses gov’t of using the return of trainee allowances to trick Ghanaians into voting for them in the coming elections
Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo, has urged Ghanaians to be wary of the deceptive strategies of the incumbent National Democratic Party (NDC), aimed only at winning their votes come December. The NPP has referred to government’s sudden review of her decision on the payment of nursing trainee allowances as mere gimmick to gain votes.
Mahama’s government in 2014, withdrew nursing trainee allowances. The NDC had explained it was to allow the various training colleges to admit more students. Government had been bent on maintaining its stand on the issue, despite massive protests from some stakeholders who argued it was her duty to pay the allowances.
However, the same government just recently released allowances for nursing trainees. Deputy Minister pf Health, Dr. Victor Bampoe who made the announcement at Atibie Midwifery and Nursing Training College, said the amount released by government was to cover for three months and that more would follow.

But speaking at Adukrom in the Okere Constituency on Tuesday, during his 4-day tour of the Eastern Region, Nana Addo said that all those are tricks by President Mahama to win votes in the coming elections. Nana Addo accuses gov’t of deception, saying that the Mahama-led government is applying these new strategies as a result of frustration. He explained that the NDC is frustrated because it is evident that NPP’s wind of change is blowing in favour of the opposition party in all parts of the country.
Nana Addo noted that the people have outgrown such tricks and are looking for a competent government to come into office to solve the many problems Ghanaians are being confronted with. The NPP Flagbearer also said that his government will bring about the desired change being craved for by citizens.
Speaking further, Nana Addo said that he and his party will fulfill every promise they have made to Ghanaians, stressing he is not the type that makes promises he can’t keep.
