The Greater Accra branch of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) last Friday presented some relief items to Odorgonno Senior High School after fire gutted one of the boys dormitories destroying several belongings of the students.
The items include mattresses, plastic plates and cups, buckets, blankets and mosquito nets.
Speaking to Citi News, the Greater Accra Regional NADMO Director, Cobbina Archibald bemoaned the rate of indiscipline in some Senior High School within the region.
“I think this is so pathetic and this brings to bare the vulnerability of our schools, I can say that a lot of the schools within Greater Accra and elsewhere are not properly walled and most of the time you will find encroachers all around the school. You can see it’s a deliberate attempt by somebody to burn the dormitory,” he added.
He added that his outfit will soon add more items such as buckets of paints and nets.
“We will try and get some paints so that the dormitory can be painted for the student to sleep in a decent room.”
The headmistress for the school, Dr, Mrs Shine Ofori thanked NADMO for its kind gesture and quick response to their plight.
