The Offinsohene Nana Wiafe Akenten III is questioning why his critics especially politicians are always on his case saying he believes they are envious of his stool.
The traditional ruler has received backlash from a section of the public for giving his traditional stool to the President John Dramani Mahama when he visited his palace some weeks ago at Offinso.
The Paramount Chief of Offinso Traditional Area questioned why his critics kept mute when he offered his stool to former President John A. Kufour and are now criticizing him for doing same to President Mahama.
Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, he wondered if he is the only traditional ruler alleged to be engaging in partisan politics.
The chief debunked claims that he got out of his chair immediately he spotted the President and offered it to him.
‘I don’t understand the hullabaloo about the seat, what is so strange or wrong with President Mahama sitting on my chair. President Mahama is not the only President who I have offered my stool, former Presidents J. A Kuffour and J.E. A Mills were also offered the same seat. I find it difficult to fathom why people are always on my case anytime the country goes to the polls.
What hurt me is that they have been peddling falsehood that I got up from my seat I was sitting on and offered it to the President. This boils down to envy, people are envious of me, I don’t know what they see in my throne, why is my throne so special,’ explained.
He said he will continue to praise the President for the developmental projects embarked on by his government.
Nana Wiafe indicated that he bears no grudge against the Presidential nominee of NPP adding that President Mahama is the incumbent President hence the need to serve him.
‘I will never forget what Mahama has done for me, as a chief I have only one vote, I will vote for my preferred candidate during the elections,’ he said.
