MANAGEMENT of Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMT) Limited has assured passengers of safety of their buses on the roads.
The assurance comes in the wake of the company’s bus which was completely burnt by fire on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Afram Plains in the Eastern Region.
The bus was on its daily schedule between Nkawkaw and Donkorkrom when the unfortunate incident happened at Odumasua.
“We urge our cherished passengers to remain calm as this is the first time we have experienced similar occurrences in the history of the company, MMT said in a statement signed and issued by Head of Communications, Ms. Bernice Akologo.
The statement, which was copied to Today in Accra yesterday, stated that the safety of passengers and staff was the number one priority of MMT.
Against this background, management of the company in the statement further assured not only its passengers in the Afram Plains, but all passengers of MMT across the nation that “we will ensure safety of passengers and continue to improve upon our services in this regard.”
Although no passenger or operating crew of the company got hurt, “management deeply regrets this incident and has consequently instituted investigations to find out what may have been the true cause of the fire outbreak.”
According to the statement, passengers who ply the aforementioned route were assured that another bus would be assigned to ensure that their travelling needs are not hampered while management investigates the incident.
“Our technical team is at the site to obtain adequate information as part of the on-going investigation,” it noted.
