MINISTER for Transport, Kwaku Amankwaah Ofori Asiamah, has paid a working visit to some agencies within his outfit.
The visits, which formed part of his familiarisation plan of his ministry, took him to the Ghana Shipper’s Authority, Intercity Transport Corporation and National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), all in Takoradi in the Western Region.
According to the minister, the purpose of his visit was to witness operations and activities of the institutions that work directly under his ministry.
He promised to work with the various managements to plan and make decisions to boost their activities.
For his part, Mr. Boakye of NRSC said his outfit was established with the mandate to plan, develop, promote and coordinate policies and further work with other agencies to provide safety on the roads.
He said his outfit’s major challenge has been staffing.
He explained that NRSC needed more assistance from other agencies to work towards ensuring safety on the roads.
He therefore, called on all safety agencies to take action to curb road accidents and make road safe for road users.
Earlier, Mr. Amnakwaah Ofori Asiamah visited the Ghana Shipper’s Authority (GSA) where he assured them of his commitment to improve facilities there.
In a brief remark, Deputy Chief Executive of GSA, Mrs. Asana Owu, expressed appreciation to the minister for visiting them.
