Messi Is Undoubtedly Better Than Ronaldo

Manchester City coach and former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss, Pep Guardiola, has made it clear that there’s no question in his mind who the best footballer in the world is.

He may be prejudiced, seeing that one of the two contenders for the world’s best footballers today, Leonel Messi, was part of his winning team when he coached at Barcelona, with Messi helping him to a number of trophies.

Nevertheless, Guardiola has come up against Ronaldo a number of times in his career, and he believes that there is absolutely no need for comparison between the tall handsome Portuguese and the little Argentine as to who is better on the football pitch.

Recently, Luis Enrique, current Barcelona coach, told Barça TV that it was ‘absurd’ comparing Messi with any active player on the planet today. And Guardiola completely agrees.

In a pre-match conference ahead of the Citizens’ match against Hull City, Pep said:

“I agree with Luis. Messi is the best, he is definitely the best. He knows how to play, score and make the other players play. He is always there.”

“With all the respect to all the players, first to Cristiano Ronaldo — congratulations to him for the award — I think Messi is on another level.”

Ronaldo just won the Balon d’Or award for best footballer of the 2015-2016 season, and though Guardiola and Enrique believe Messi is better, Ronaldo is undoubtedly the best in the 2015-2016 season, with several trophies – international as well as club trophies – and goals to prove it.

Among many Messi faithfuls, there’s the belief that Ronaldo could never match Messi, because Ronaldo just won his fourth Balon d’Or trophy, while Messi already has five of those under his belt.

Ronaldo is 31 years old, and is expected to finish his career in a couple of seasons. Messi however, is 29 years old and could add one or two more Balon d’Or trophies to his collection.

Do you think Ronaldo could ever match Messi’s Balon d’Or accomplishments?

We’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we?
