Days after beautiful actress Martha Ankomah’s comment about her opinion on most of the movies produced in ‘Twi’ dialect went viral, popular film director based in Kumasi, Jackson K. Bentum has descended heavily on the former.
Martha’s take on Kumawood movies seems not to go down well with a lot of the movie players in the Kumawood movie industry most especially, award-winning movie director, Jackson K Bentum.
The award-winning movie director, seems unhappy about the statement by Martha Ankomah and has described it as insolent.
In an interview with Seancitygh, Jackson Bentum stated categorically that the actress has little or no knowledge in film making and that she should keep mute.
“She doesn’t know anything about film making. She’s just an actress so she should talk about her roles. Ask her what is the meaning of Horror Movies? I can mention 1000s of American, Indian and Chinese witchcraft movies. Those are part of film making.
Which movies are they also shooting? Room to room and only love movies? People are tired of watching those movies”, he added.
However, Martha Ankomah has been reported in the news to have stated that though she loves the storylines of movies in local dialect especially ‘Twi’, she thinks the use of witchcraft and juju do not make sense.
This, she noted, is part of the reasons why she is unable to feature in such local movies.
“I love Kumawood movies but what I dislike about their movies is the fetish stuff they inculcate into them.
“Apart from that, I love their storylines and they use to have really good movies like ‘Kumasi y)nko)’ but of late most of their movies portray witchcraft and that does not motivate me to shoot with them,” Martha told Andy Dosty of Hit Fm.
