An executive of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ahafo Ano South East constituency of the Ashanti Region has been asked by the chiefs of the Mankranso Traditional Council to reverse curses he invoked on some members of the Electoral Commission in the area.
Issifu Adams, the Youth Organiser of the NDC in the constituency, earlier in the week called down maledictions on the members of the commission in connection with their “suspicious” conduct in the voter transfer exercise currently underway there.
According to him, there were individuals within the ranks of the commission who had compromised their neutrality by colluding with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to thwart the efforts of persons perceived to be supporters of the NDC from having their votes transferred to the constituency.
He said the same officers had been biased against his party during the previous voter registration exercise and several complaints to authorities at the commission to rein in those officers had yielded no change in attitude, a situation he said triggered the recent disturbances in the area.
“Being the party’s representative at the EC, I see the manipulations against the party. I won’t look on for all the good work I have done for the party to come to nought,” Mr Adams assured.
He explained that he resorted to curses so as to get quick judgement on the matter since that settled matters more quickly than resorting to court action.
According to him, the Mankranso Traditional Council on Friday September 23 asked him to go and perform the necessary rituals to undo the curses he uttered as such behaviour had been outlawed in the community.
