A Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Koku Anyidoho has taken a swipe at critics of the party over what has been described as the delay in launching their manifesto barely three months into the December 7, general polls.
Koku Anyidoho speaking in an interview with host of Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, described the agitations and pressure mounted on the party to release its manifesto as needless.
According to him, a manifesto cannot do any magic for any political party in an election year, hence critics chiding the NDC should hold their guns. The outspoken politician indicated that, what can propel a candidate or political party into victory in an election year has to do with the achievements and track record and not necessarily a manifesto.
He was speaking ahead of President Mahama’s engagement with professionals, youth, civil society organizations and the general public on the highlight of the party’s manifesto.
The event will be held at the State Banquet Hall, Accra. Koku Anyidoho said President Mahama will focus on the strong points of the party’s plans and policies.
Your manifesto is about what you’ve been able to do, your achievements and not fake promises. Our manifesto is President Mahama’s unparalleled achievements. It is about what he is doing and will continue to do. President Mahama will highlight our strong points at the event today.
Basically we are still talking about infrastructure expansion, we are still talking about investing in people, because this whole concept of governance is about the welfare of the people. And this evening, President Mahama will put across how phase two of the development agenda is going to benefit the people.
Critics of President Mahama and the NDC he noted, have failed to recognise his remarkable record and rather peddling falsehood to score political points.
The NDC’s record he maintained is unprecedented and per the evidence available, President Mahama will surely topple his contenders to win the 2016 general polls.
