A 38-year-old trotro driver is threatening to drag a man of God to court for allegedly cutting down his mango tree.
According to Kwame Stephen, a resident of Akyem Buoso in the Eastern Region, the head pastor of Mountain Sinai Ministry claimed the tree which has been in his house for decades served as a witch camp.
The pastor whose name was only given as Nana Opoku has said the mango tree is the source of the predicament at has befallen the town.
Therefore, on Sunday, he together with his church members stormed his house with machetes, axe and a chainsaw machine and cut down the tree.
“The pastor claimed the Holy Spirit has directed them to chop down the mango trees been in my house for many years which serves as fruit for my family and school children around” he bemoaned.
The action of the pastor, Kwame Stephen said it’s a violation of his fundamental human right thus will seek redress in court.
But Paramount Chief of Akyem Buoso Nana Ahenkan called the bluff of his subject daring him to proceed to court.
He said the mango tree according to the pastor is a hindrance to the progress of the people in the town.
Nana Ahenkan noted that Akyem Buoso, a gold mining town is a pale shadow of itself because of the untoward hardships which has also affected the educational standards of their children.
“Akyem Buoso is a gold town but the hardship is too much. Even when the children write exams they don’t pass” he bemoaned.
Based on this backdrop, Nana Ahenkan said he gave the pastor the permission to cut down the tree to free them from the spiritual bondage.
