DUNKWA circuit court presided over by Justice Francis A Obuajo has sentenced Collins Awuku to a concurrent jailed sentence of three years for possessing wrappers of Indian hemp (wee) and also threatening to kill his co-tenant with a knife.
The accused pleaded guilty to the offences and was convicted accordingly.
The fact of the case as presented to the court by Chief Inspector Emmanuel Asante was that the complainant is a trader while the accused is unemployed.
They both lived in the same house at Newman Estate a suburb of Dunkwa-Offin in the Central Region.
According to the prosecutor, for the past eight months, the accused has been misbehaving towards his co-tenants in the house and has also been smoking wee in the house.
The prosecutor said on 25/1/2017 the accused was smoking the stuff in the house when he was confronted by the complainant.
The accused became offended and threatened to kill the complainant with a knife.
The landlord was called upon to resolve the issue.
The prosecutor stated that the accused became offended in the course and threatened to kill the complainant again.
The complainant later lodged the case at the police station and the accused was arrested.
A search was conducted in the accused room and 169 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were found.
The accused was charged and arraigned before court after investigations.
