The man set ablaze with his brother by his wife has died at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital Thursday.
45-year-old Lawerence Nkem Oyem sufferred severe burns after his 38-year-old wife, Comfort Agbolosu allegedly set him and his brother, Benjamin Oyem, 42, ablaze at Ashaiman Lebanon Zone 2 last Saturday.
Tema Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Juliana Obeng who confirmed his passing away said he died between the hours of 5:00 am and 6:00 am.
The two brothers started battling for the lives right after the fire incident on Saturday as they were rushed to Tema General Hospital for treatment but health officials needed to transfer the two for further treatment at Korle-Bu due to their condition.
Benjamin Oyem died whiles being transferred from Tema to Korle-Bu with his body immediately deposited at Tema General hospital morgue.
Although Lawerence was in coma at Korle-Bu, he regained consciousness on Tuesday and was responding to treatment but passed on this morning.
Prior to the incident on Saturday, his wife Comfort Agbolosu around 3:30 am took their three children, all girls to some neighbours before setting thei the room in which her husband and brother-in-law were sleeping ablaze.
Adom News’ Kwame Yankah who visited the area on Tuesday was told that Comfort had packed her belongings out of the rented house a week earlier but came around every dawn to bath the children.
Neighbours could not tell what might have led to this heinous crime.
Their three children are currently with their auntie in Accra.
Meanwhile, Comfort Agbolosu has been remanded by Ashaiman district court into police custody and is to appear in court on 12th December, 2016.
