The suspect hit his wife on the head with a stick during a fight
A 57-year-old teacher has killed his wife over her constant consumption of alcohol at Bimbilla in the Northern region.
The suspect, David Musah Tia was said to have hit his wife, Janet Coffie with a stick during a fight.
Nanumba District Police Commander DSP Benjamin Aniah who confirimed the incident to Adom News said the suspect gave his late wife money to set up a drinking spot to generate some income, but he always returned from work and met his wife drunk.
He indicated that, on the fateful day, Tia returned home and met the wife drunk as usual, and when he complained the wife hit him with a stick.
In an attempt to overpower his wife, Tia out of anger took the stick and also hit her head with it.
DSP Aniah said the woman fell unconscious and was rushed to the Bimbilla Government Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Tia has since been remanded by the Bimbilla District Court and has been given a provisional charge of murder but his plea was not taken.
He is expected to reappear before court on March 1, 2017.
