One person was confirmed dead after a taxi he was traveling on collided with a Nissan Caravan mini bus.
The accident occurred around 1:30, Friday afternoon at Fiapre, on the Snyani Berekum road.
According to Brong Ahafo MTTU boss, Superintendent Asirifi Oppong, the fiat taxi with registration number AS 3464 with three passengers was moving from Sunyani towards Nsuatre in the Sunyani West District.
But just after the Fiapre toll booth, a man in his fifties, believed to be heavily drunk, crossed the taxi from his right side, and in the process, the taxi driver, Appiah David’s attempt to avoid him, collided with the mini bus carrying 14 passengers coming from the opposite direction.
This resulted in the bus falling into a ditch.
Superintendent Asirifi Oppong said though the taxi driver sustained minor injury, one of the passengers in the taxi, 56-year-old Lewis Osei Tutu died shortly after they were transported to the regional hospital in Sunyani with the other two in critical condition.
The mini bus driver, Osei Collins, according to the regional MTTU boss had a fracture on his right arm and is receiving treatment at the hospital while some of the passengers on his bus have been treated and discharged.
