A 53-year-old man, Patrick Kyere, popularly known as ‘Mugabe’ has been stabbed to death in Adansi Akorekere in the Ashanti region Thursday.
The suspect according to report is currently at large.
Uncle to the deceased, Benjamin Nimako narrating the incident to Adom News’ Isaac Normenyo said around 7 pm Thursday, he received a distress call from a family member who informed him that Mugabe has been stabbed to death by an unknown man.
It is unclear what might have triggered the fight between the two but Mr. Nimako said his nephew had a misunderstanding with the man who was believed to have purchased some pair of slippers from the deceased.
“Mugabe is my nephew and he sells slippers in a town at Adansi. I had a call from a family member informing me that Mugabe has been stabbed to death. I rushed to the scene only to find out that my nephew suffered several cutlass wounds by this unknown person.
“He managed to flee the scene after killing my nephew and when I asked later, I was told the man came to purchase slippers from his shop when it turned into a scuffle leading to his death, ” he said.
M. Nimako said the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Obuasi Government hospital.
The matter, he said has been reported to the Adansi District police who have begun investigations into the unfortunate incident.
