A 48year old subsistence farmer, Kofi Gyamfi has been shot dead by an unknown person in front of his 14 year old son on their return from farm at Manso Abore in the Amansie west district of the Asahnti region.
The victim was on his way to his house from farm together with his 14year old son and their dog when the dog suddenly left them to chase what they suspected to be game.
The victim, then dropped the load he was carrying from his head and chased after the dog to make sure it was really chasing game when the shot was fired from nowhere, killing him instantly.
His 14year old son, Kwame yeboah, upon hearing the gun shot ran home without attending to his father and reported the incident to his mother who later reported to the police.
The police has since conveyed the remains of the deceased Kofi Gyamfi to the morgue and promised to investigate further.
Wife of the deceased, Yaa Minkah told Otec fm’s reporter, Isaac Nsiah Foster that she was supposed to accompany her husband to the farm that faithful day, but he (deceased) asked her to stay home and take care of one of their children who was suffering from Diarrhea.
According to her, they both woke up in the morning feeling sick but husband insisted he goes to the farm to find some food for the family because they had little food in the house.
Detective sergeant Isacc Gidiglo who is in charge the case told Isaac Nsiah Foster that, the police believe the victim was shot by a hunter who might have mistaken him for game.
He said that the police will do an examination of the dead body to determine whether the bullets were that of a hunter or otherwise.
