Teachers at the Adiembra District Assembly (D/A) Basic School in the Ahafo Ano South District in the Ashanti Region could not believe their ears when Yaw Adjei, 26, invoked the Asante deity, ‘Antoa Nyamaa’, and others on them.
Adjei, a resident of the area, was said to have invoked the curses following allegations that he had stolen some money, mobile phones, a laptop and desktop computers belonging to the school.
One of the teachers who spoke on anonymity told The Mirror that for some time now, the teachers had been suspecting Adjei of stealing some items from the school.
He said based on their suspicion, the school authorities reported the matter to the Mankranso Police and Adjei was subsequently arrested on February 10, 2017 to assist with investigations.
He said immediately Adjei was granted bail, he walked straight to the school and in the full glare of some of the teachers, invoked the deities to curse them for wrongfully accusing him.
He said the school authorities had since tried to get Adjei to reverse the curses but their efforts had proved futile since he had gone into hiding.
The Mankranso District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr John Adusei, confirmed the story in an interview and called on the school authorities to assist the police in investigating the matter.
