MORE than 400 residents of Mamprobi in Accra over the weekend received free medical screening from Vodafone Ghana Foundation as part of efforts to provide quality health care in communities it operates.
The programme, dubbed: ‘Healthfest,’ is an annual event aimed at providing free quality health care assistance to residents.
The beneficiaries, mainly women and children, were screened on diabetes, hypertension, Hepatitis B, HIV-AIDS and were given medication and talk on preventive healthcare.
Speaking to Today, Corporate Relations Manager at Vodafone, Mr. Ebenezer Amankwah, said the annual event was to offer opportunities to the less-privileged to access healthcare at no cost.
“Vodafone Ghana is very committed to bringing quality healthcare to the doorstep of the vulnerable,” he said.
According to him, every year a community which needed basic healthcare was chosen across all the regions, where residents were screened for various diseases and medicines supplied freely to them.
“Those whose cases are found to be serious are referred to the nearest health facilities,” he added.
He further called on Ghanaians to take advantage of the programme to get free medical care.
Mr. Amankwah indicated that Vodafone’s “healthline 255” and Vodafone “Healthline TV” was a concerted effort at touching key sectors of the Ghanaian society.
A beneficiary, Miss Margret Osei, expressed gratitude to Vodafone Ghana Foundation for coming to their doorstep to educate and examine them at no cost.
“I want to use this opportunity to urge fellow Ghanaians to take advantage of the Vodafone free health screening because it’s real and good,” she said.
