Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) government are being accused of stealing from government of all its essential household items in some assemblies.
A member of the committee in charge of the transition team of MMDCE’s, Ato Arthur who disclosed this to Adom News said officials from the previous government took along with them fridges, television sets, gas cylinders among others when they vacated the premises.
According to him, all assets found or being displayed at any facility serving as the seat of government, under normal circumstances belong to the state therefore was shocked to find out that officials from the previous government would engage in such acts.
Aside looting the assembly, Ato Arthur said they also found out that these MMDCEs have awarded last minutes contract far beyond what they are expecting of the share of the District Assembly common fund.
Describing the situation as very worrying, he said the committee is waiting for authorization from the Chief of Staff after the handing over notes is delivered before any decision would be taken.
