As the controversy of the comeback of former President John Dramani Mahama for 2020 continues, he has come under pressure from his kinsmen not to bow out as earlier announced by his family.
Some youth and elderly in the Bole-Bamboi Constituency of the Northern region are profusely calling on him to contest the 2020 general elections.
According to the people, John Mahama stands the better chance of rescuing power from the governing New Patriotic party (NPP) which has so far showed signs of failure in the running of its four-year mandate
On Bole-based Nkilgi Fm, the residents sided with a statement by the National Women’s Organiser for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hajia Zanabu Mahama that former President John Dramani Mahama will bounce back as Presidential candidate for the NDC with a one touch victory in 2020.
The former President received massive endorsement from the people of Bole- Bamboi constituency nearly hitting 90%.
As a result of the unprecedented endorsement, at a gathering in Bole during last year’s Christmas visit he said “if Bole- Bamboi my home constituency represents Ghana, then I would have been declared the winner of the 2016 elections”.
The popularity of President John Mahama they claim has soured in his home constituency of Bole-Bamboi after he lost the 2016 elections, a situation that cannot be explained.
The people of Bole have appealed to the son of their soil to reconsider his decision of going for a long political break and contest Nana Addo in 2020 because they will give him 99% votes.
Meanwhile they advised the former President to be wary of his companions when he becomes President again because they contributed partly to his defeat.
They said President did not allow his own people to get closer to him like Nana Akufo-Addo has done now.
Notwithstanding the massive support, the people of Bole-Bamboi have complained of discrimination from former President Mahama because he never appointed a single individual from Bole into any position in his government.
They said all his appointments from his Gonja backyard went to Eastern Gonja meanwhile they failed to win the Salaga seat for NDC a situation they said is disappointing and embarrassing.
Though the former President is yet to take a decision on this very call, they are hopeful he will grant their wish.
