Paramount Chief of Gomoa Akyampim traditional area in the Central Region, Obirifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II says President Mahama is receiving loans from donor countries as a result of his good governance.
He is of the firm belief that a country which lacks good governance will always find it difficult getting loans from other countries.
“Some of the big roads we see in our country is as a result of good governance by the Mahama administration. Because he uses the money to develop the country, he always gets loans to help him do more.
“These donor countries have experts who follow up to see what the loans are being used for and because Mahama is utilising the loans to develop the country, they are also willing to give more. What I have read from the Green book is a clear indication that Mahama is really working,” he said.
Obirifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II made the statement when President John Mahama paid a courtesy call on the chief at Gomoa Nyanyano during his five-day campaign tour to the region.
But the Central Regional Vice Chairman of NPP, Joe Donkor, has described Obirifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II’s statement as unfortunate.
According to him, the living standards of the people in Gomoa is very bad; no single developmental project has been undertaken in the area.
He reminded the chief that several projects listed in the NDC’s Green book as having been undertaken in Gomoa don’t exist.
“Even these cars that the President is sharing, this chief hasn’t received some so I am surprised to hear him speak like that” Joe Donkor stated.
