Nana Obiri Boahen, a Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says he would not waste his time to monitor President Mahama’s recent comments against Nana Addo because they are unwise.
The private legal practitioner said it would be pointless for the NPP to waste it’s time on the current trend of attacks President Mahama is firing at their presidential candidate because it’s valueless, aimless, pointless and ‘foolish’.
Nana Obiri Boahen was speaking in an interview with Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm in response to President Mahama’s comments that Nana Akufo Addo is a dictator. The president addressing residents at Bimbilla said: “What we need in Ghana is an understanding president. The era of dictatorship is gone: we are not looking for a dictator, somebody who cannot stand criticism in his own party. If you criticise him, he will sack you that is not the kind of leader we are looking for. We are looking for a leader who can bring people together.”
Responding to the comments, lawyer Obiri Boahen said he feels sad that President John Dramani has failed to tell residents in the North what his administration has done for them and how the SADA money was used to alleviate the poverty in the region.
”The economy which is in tatters, and massive corruption is sending us into a ditch that is what Mahama should have focus on. But for him to attack Nana Addo is pointless, valueless, aimless, and I do not intend wasting my time to debate it. I’m sorry to say this, the comments by Mahama lacks logical reasoning and unwise. That is the truth. Where is the truth in what he [President Mahama] is saying? Is this a wise comment? I don’t think so.”
He also lambasted President Mahama for calling on voters’ to re-elect him for the solid foundation laid under his administration since in his view, the so-called foundation by Mahama is weak and terrible to warrant him a second term.
”President Mahama’s comment(s) is a comic relief. You don’t go to the North and tell them that Nana Addo is a dictator. You rather tell them why SADA failed. I think that, any wise person in Ghana would understand that Mahama is making unwise comments and so why do I waste my time on him?…The same law based on which Mahama pardoned the trio is the same law that saw Paul Afoko, Sammy Crabbe and Kwabena Agyapong suspended.”
When asked to retract from his unwise comment, he refused to stress that, President Mahama’s comment cannot be described in any other way but the way he had described it.
Meanwhile, Captain Joshua Akamaba, Deputy National Organizer of the NDC, rubbished the claim by his political opponent that President Mahama’s foundation is weak. He challenged the NPP to compare its achievements in the areas of infrastructure in the education sector, to that of Mahama’s achievements and see whose achievements are solid.
Nana Addo he restated is a divisive dictator and that has been confirmed by some key functionaries of his own party.
