NDC Member of Parliament for Yunyoo, Hon. Joseph Bipoba Naabu has made a startling revelation about why the umbrella family loss the 2016 general elections to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In an emotional interview with some journalists of the Parliamentary Press Corps (PPP), Hon. Naabu said another chance for former President of the Land, John Dramani Mahama will see the economy being messed up the more, insisting that the former Ghanaian leader should give way for another person to lead the umbrella family in election 2020.
Below is the transcript of excerpts of the said interview:
“Even though it is my government and I wish that we would have won the elections but it is because of our behaviour and the President himself took things for granted and he thought he was going to win hands down but rather he lost heavily, massively.
Yes, I will say lack of competence and he was also not having control. People were just telling him lies within the Presidency. Take Omane Boamah – what experience has he got in politics? He should go and contest for elections in the constituency that he comes from can he win an election? But the President was listening to such people. That is the problem with the President. Those who were surrounding him were not telling him the truth – why should I say so?
He was the President and he went and contested with Nana Akufo-Addo and lost so miserably and so comfortably.
Now if President Mahama comes, what is he going to do? Is he the only person and why should it be he? I want to tell you categorically that if he comes, he will rather mess up more. And those people calling for President Mahama coming, they were the ones that he made them ministers, he made deputy ministers – they were the people who were made Chief Executive Officers. They are the people calling for him to come back. Why should we lose the Vice-President’s constituency? Why should we lose President Mills’ constituency? Why should Hannah Tetteh loss? So, my brother, President Mahama should give a chance for the NDC so that he will watch. I know however that he still have another chance to contest but I don’t think that if he comes it is good.”
