The vice presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says there is no justification for Ghanaians to retain the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) in power.
According to him, President Mahama and his cronies have done nothing than to empty the state coffers into their private pocket.
The NPP’s running mate who was addressing a crowd at Ekumfi Ekrofo as part of his five-day tour of the Central region said, rather than solving the bread and butter issues confronting Ghanaians, President Mahama is using tax payers money to chew Guinea fowl known in local parlance as ‘Akomfem’.
The former deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana indicated that taxes and loans raised under the eight years of the NPP from the period of 2001-2008 was GHC20 billion compared to the GHC248 billion the NDC government has had from 2009-2016.
This amount accrued in taxes under the Mahama-led government, he said should have been enough to bring respite to Ghana’s but “what we see is create, loot and share”.
With just few months to elections, Dr Bawumia believes retaining the NDC would amount to an endorsement of the wanton dissipation of the nation’s resources.
