President John Mahama Sunday morning took the stronghold of the opposition NPP, Kumasi, by storm with a spontaneous health walk that had a record attendance, Starr News’ Presidential Affairs correspondent Ibrahim Alhassan reported.
According to Alhassan, the attendance of the walk appeared to have marveled executives of the ruling party in the region.
The campaign health walk which started in Asawase stretched to several parts of kumasi, where the President will be campaigning for the next four days.
He has described the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a grouping not ready to govern Ghana.
He said the divisions and internal squabbles within the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition will spell doom for the country if voted into power.
Mahama is therefore calling on Ghanaians to “continue to leave them [NPP] in opposition” until they are able to put their house in order.
Speaking at a rally at Anweaso in the Adansi Asokwa constituency of the Ashanti region, the President stressed the NDC is the only party stable enough to govern the young oil-producing country.
“Today, the party that’s ready to govern this country is the NDC. Why am I saying so? Today, NDC is the most united and well organised party than any other party in Ghana. Look at what’s going on in NPP. NPP is divided into two factions.
“If that party is rife with these divisions even in opposition, what will happen if we give them power? They are not ready to govern, so let’s continue to leave them in opposition for them to take their time to put their house in order, after 2021 then they come back for Ghanaians to consider them.”
