The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa Djaba has called on former President John Mahama to rather apologize to the people of the three northern regions for his failure to implement the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) successfully.
The minister says the people in the north wanted the government to improve their standard of living with SADA but he failed and that calls for an apology to the people of Ghana, especially those in the north.
The Gender Minister has rebuffed calls on her to apologise to former president John Mahama for describing how he managed SADA as “wicked” and “evil”.
She felt it was unnecessary for the Appointments Committee of Parliament to force her to apologize to the former president over her comment on him during the electioneering campaign.
Madam Afisa Djaba demanded the apology in an interview on Onua FM’s Yen Nsempa hosted by Hopespon Adorye of the NPP on Monday to commemorate the World Radio Day which falls today.
She observed that some Members of Parliament from the north have the notion that women should not be confident and bold, which said is bad and must be discouraged.
“Hon. Haruna Iddrisu and Alhassan Suhuni are from the north so they have that notion in them but I think it is wrong”, she added.
The Gender Minister said “if I am unable to defend the people in the north, then why should I be in such position”.
On the World Radio Day, Madam Afisa Djaba said “people with sharp teeth must be eliminated from radio. We must weed out the babies with sharp teeth from the radio to sanitize the airwaves”.
