Private legal practitioner says President John Mahama has given meaning to his ‘dead goat syndrome’.
Maurice Ampaw noted that, the decision to grant remission of sentence to the three people serving a four month jail term for threatening to kill judges is an endorsement of impunity.
President Mahama granted pardon to the Montie three following a recommendation by the Council of State.
A radio host with the Accra based Montie FM Salifu Maase and two panelists, Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako-Gunn were found guilty for scandalizing the court and sentenced to four months in prison.
But a month after being in jail, the three can now heave a sigh of freedom following the remission of their sentence.
However, Maurice Ampaw said President Mahama’s action proves that, he is a President for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“I’m ashamed and disappointed in President Mahama. How can you free people who threatened to kill judges” he quizzed.
The outspoken lawyer said the President does not owe Ghana, he is just a trustee therefore cannot take personnel decision to free his cronies.
“We now know that if you don’t belong to NDC, you will rot in jail; Mahama is now a president for NDC” he fumed.
Maurice Ampaw has vowed to lead a campaign to ensure President Mahama is voted out of power in the December elections.
