The Member of Parliament (MP) for Mahnyia South Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh has accused President John Dramani Mahama of gaining notoriety on cutting sods of projects without execution.
He alleges that the President will go into the country’s history books as the one who has cut more sods more than any of his predecessors.
“He has cut more sods than any president in the country. Projects that are his and not his at all he has cut sods”, he alleged.
The legislator indicated on Abusua Nkomo hosted by Kwame Adinkra that the President tries to seek credit on projects executed by others.
His comments came after plans by President Mahama who is on a four-day tour of the Ashanti Region to cut sod for the extension of work on the Kumasi airport runway.
“President Mahama’s minister will kill him because they are not telling him the truth. They will take him to cut a sod for projects which are not theirs and he readily accepts”, he alleged.
Ghana’s Parliament last week approved a €72million loan facility for expansion works at the Kumasi Airport.
The agreement is expected to lead to an improvement in the runway as well as the installation of ground lights to allow flights at night, which will lead to the creation of an alternative international airport in the country.
But on the floor of the house the opposition Members of Parliament kicked against the speed with which the loan and other bills were being rushed on the floor of the house.
However, majority MPs remained adamant and argued that the loan agreement would expand the infrastructural base of the Kumasi Airport to facilitate the movement of people and goods.
