Finance Minister, Seth Terkper has hailed the governing National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) handling of the economy as a record Ghanaians can be proud of.
Mr. Terkper was speaking during the final rally of the NDC at the Accra Sports Stadium where he sought to sway the mind of undecided voters and affirm the Mahama administration some 48 hours before the general elections on Wednesday.
Addressing the teeming mass of NDC supporters, Mr. Terkper assured the supporters that “the government of President John Mahama has a record all of us can be very proud of today. We must be proud of the achievements of our government.”
Mr. Terkper further recounted the challenges the Mahama government has faced in office. “Our leader took up the challenges and went to every part of this country. We saw schools being built more than any government since the Nkrumah regime. We also saw hospitals being built more that any government since the Nkrumah regime.”
The NDC government also overcame major economic challenges in 2013 to oversee the growth of the economy accompanied, with reduced borrowing rates, Mr Terkper stated.
“Since HIPC was declared, when our opponents had a lot of resources at their disposal, this is the first time that the NDC government has reduced the rate at which we borrow for the country.”
He concluded by taking the opportunity to remind Ghanaians that the country’s power crisis had been overcome by the Mahama-led administration making this “the first time since 2012 that we are having an election and dumsor has not been mentioned anywhere.”
