Former President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Accra after spending an event-packed week in Nairobi, Kenya.
While there, he spoke to the Private sector community KEPSA, about Democratic consolidation and matters to do with balancing the economy in an election year. He lauded and encouraged the involvement of the Private Sector Alliance, in creating awareness for peaceful elections.
More than anything, he highlighted the need for policy consistency by governments to allow a robust private sector. Members of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance expressed gratitude for his candidness.
On his second day, he spoke to upcoming corporate professionals who converge monthly for the MindSpeak Forum. He delivered a speech that has gone viral entitled “Leave when the applause is loudest.”
The speech drew on a lot of his personal experiences and got a standing ovation. Some have interpreted it to mean he has hung up his political gloves. This remains to be seen.
Later, telecommunications Giant Safaricom hosted the Former President, where they showcased their sophisticated Customer support system. At a special lunch with the Safaricom Executives, he shared Ghana’s strides and successes in the communication sector.
The Millennials were not forgotten during this inspirational visit. President Mahama toured the Africa Digital Media Institute where he became the student. He was taken through the Animation suite and showed some tricks to animating. He was also taken through some basics of sound production and got a feel of being in the studio.
His visit was crowned by an inspirational speech to the students that left one particular Ghanaian student in tears.
It was not all work for the Former President who was whisked off to the Maasai Mara for some relaxation. He got to take in the beauty of Kenya’s wildlife and enjoyed a tour and tasting of Kenya’s tea estates in Kericho.
It’s definitely clear to see that the former President is taking this new phase of his life in stride.
